Coach Bio

Mike has been coaching softball and baseball for 30 years. He began in 1989 at St. Anthony’s as an Athletic Director and head coach for the girl's softball and volleyball programs. In 1996, Mike began teaching and coaching for Los Alamitos Unified where he still works today.

When his son and daughter were old enough, he coached their baseball teams. In 2012, Mike created the Mavericks 12U travel team, and after 2 years finished with a combined season record of 45-4-2, taking several championship wins.

Mike and his daughter transitioned to the Los Alamitos Girls Softball League where he coached for 3 seasons, and in 2015 won the league championship. That postseason he was one of the All-Star coaches who took the team to 7 of 8 championship games including States and Nationals.

Mike has been with this team for 5 years and enjoys working with such talented young athletes. Together they have won several championships including the Triple Crown 12U World Series. He is devoted to developing the self-confidence and skills of each player so that every girl has the best possible chance to succeed. He loves working with kids, and truly believes that if you focus on development, winning will find its way into the equation.

Mike played baseball for 10 years, and understands the game very well. He competed professionally in surfing and motocross, and understands the mental and physical commitments of high level competition. In his spare time, Coach Mike runs softball & baseball clinics, umpires for PONY Baseball, sits on the board of the local baseball league, and is a huge community minded volunteer.
